| Minutes of Meeting | The Late Rotarian Rohinton Chothia, A Dear Friend to All… Reported by PP Dr. Vikram Nabar and R’ Ann Shereen Masters On 26th June 2021, RCPD members were saddened by the passing away of Rohinton Chothia. They decided to dedicate their regular weekly meeting of 15th July to his memories. Attended on zoom by almost a hundred persons [members and former members of RCPD and their spouses, members of the Inner Wheel Club of Poona Downtown, members of the Chothia family, and friends], the meeting was one with a difference, to celebrate Rohinton’s life… to sing his favourite songs and recount stories of his humour, his friendly spirit, and his love for life. In 1986, Rotary Club of Poona Downtown Founder President Dr. Philly N. Karani introduced the magnificent Chothia couple, Rohinton and Khushi, into our lives as Charter Members. Those who had come into contact with Rohington felt his bubbling energy spill over into their own lives. He was a True Rotarian (in every sense of the word) dedicated to the service of the underprivileged, and upliftment of the Society. He was the soul of RCPD Fellowships; cracking jokes, laughing loudly. Everyone listened with rapt attention whenever he came on stage to sing his favourite songs, especially his hallmark song “Buona Sera, Signorina”. Everyone waited to hear the kissing sound that he “produced” loudly with his lips, which was always followed by thunderous laughter and applause from the audience. Pundalik Kudva, Anil Latey, Vera Bhathena, Yezdi Batliwala, Ashwini Malhotra and Vikram Nabar paid rich tributes to Rohinton and also read out messages from former members and from family members. Various aspects of Rohinton’s role over 35 years of RCPD, as well as the sentiments expressed above, have been adequately described in these tributes. Ann Shereen Masters put up a grand video from the rare photos provided by RCPD members. Pundalik, Ashwini and Vikram sang his favourites. Rohinton’s son Shahvir said that RCPD Rotarians had built friendships for life, with their family. He thanked Pradeep Munot, Shabbir Jamnagarwalla, Jitu Mehta, Arun Oswal, et.al, for taking a cake to Rohinton over the past few Birthdays. Shahvir also regaled us by telling a story that shows Rohinton’s love for life. During a business visit to Russia, he went to attend a Rotary meeting, but by mistake somebody directed him to a Jewish wedding. After dancing, singing, being photographed with the couple and enjoying a lavish dinner, he thought to himself,”I don’t see any Rotarians around here. Is this a Rotary meeting or not?” An Indian national walking outside the hall, pointed in another direction, and told him where the Rotarians were, and he then went there. Khushi said Rohinton was a happy person with strong positive vibes, and their Downtown journey has been most pleasurable. She expressed gratitude for the visits from several members and their spouses (after Rohinton stopped attending RCPD meetings). She was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for him by the number of members attending his last rites, and for theflowers and messages received by the family. She thanked the meeting organisers and planners for the wonderful efforts they had put in. Ashwini Malhotra and Pundalik Kudva once again paid tributes by singing songs. President Asis Ray concluded the meeting by thanking all participants, drawing attention to a record attendance (over 100 persons), which he said had demonstrated the popularity of Rohinton. The memorable meeting of 15th July ended with everyone taking up Ashwini’s suggestion and singing, ”He is a jolly good fellow”. In Rohinton’s passing, the spark may have gone out of RCPD family get-togethers ---one question stares everyone….in future, who will sing [as good as him], the songs Be’same Mucho; Buona Sera Signorina; Around the World I searched for you; It was Fascination; Autumn Leaves; Pyaar Hua; Jaane Kahaan Meraa Jeeger Gayaa jee; Lapak Zapak? Arrivederci dear Rohinton / Uncle ---- The Club Members you left behind are missing you! May you rest in Eternal Peace!! |

But we can program our thinking and reactions by using certain tools. What is important is Awareness of your own thought process. Words are powerful and we should use them with this understanding. |

| Minutes of Meeting | A formal induction programme of the 13 youngsters happened at the Hotel Raviraj. It was a breakfast meeting in person with limited number of Metropolitans due to Covid situation. PP Rtn Padma Shahane introduced the Satellite Club Chairman Tanveer Inamdar. He is the founder of Vertex Inc Pvt Ltd and Treei Foundation. Tanveer and all his fellow Satellite members introduced themselves very nicely. All 13 members were inducted by Dist 3131 Membership Director Rtn Shital Shah and oath was given by our own PP and Dist membership Co-Director Rtn Madhav Tilgulkar Rtn Shital Shah appreciated the talent and enthusiasm of these youngsters and mentioned that this was the youngest group in Dist 3131. Special Thanks to President Sneha Subhedar for bringing in this new energy and talent to our club. Our Goals are set on the RI website and will be uploaded on district website and President urged all directors to work towards achieving them. 2.President urged all Directors to tap their resource so as to bring in more CSR funds for all club projects 3. SOP for all projects was explained and the requisite forms were handed out to all directors. It was stressed that no project shall be sanctioned without proposal form and the concerned avenue director will have to give his/her approval for the project before it can be put to the BOD. Once the BOD gives its approval only then will the project go ahead. 4. Treasurer Abhay explained financial status of club . He indicated that previous years signed financial statement is not yet received as our CA was out of State for last 15days. All Directors suggested that the previous year’s office bearers must be informed to please give it ASAP. 5. Abhay also explained that earlier year club had 56 members out of which 4 members could not be retained for their personal reasons but 6 member were reintroduced under reinduction program. So we have 58 members as of 15th july,2021 6. A resolution was passed and Abhay Devare was unanimously nominated to complete certain non-compliance at the Charity Commission . All members assured to help collect documents for the same from previous presidents and secretaries. 7. The BOD unanimously decided to end the tie-up with RC Amanora for this year wherein the CSR funds from their CSR partners were received in our trust’s account to our to carry out projects. It was decided to inform their President and Board about this. 8. Internal Auditor Sunil explained that sometimes projects are executed by club members through personal finances and later on informed to the club. It was suggested by Sunil and accepted by all that such projects will be executed through our Trust in order to qualify as club projects. 9. It was decided that Projects less than rs.10000 may be put up on the whatsapp group for approval as this will save time and effort. 10. Director Narke explained the proposed tree plantation drive on Sunday 18th july and Budget of Rs.10000 was sanctioned for tree plantation at Hotale village school. 11.On behalf of Service director ,President explained about survey done at Donje village and areas of work .It is proposed to hold 3 medical camps there and also donate to an old age home there. 12.Director Foundation urged all directors to donate to TRF. 13.GOM july,Swati explained about the programs for the month and GOM August Sharad explained about the planned programs for August. 14. Trainer Sharad Deshpande urged all to work together throughout the year as a team and put in their best efforts.
