Minutes of Meeting	Innovation and Technology in Industry: Talk by Mr. Aameir Alihussain, Chairman, BSRM, Bangladesh to RCPD by Video conference on 18 August 2021. Aameir is a successful, 3rd generation Bangladesh businessman of Indian origin, their family started as trading with Africa and now are the largest Steel producers of Bangladesh. A soft-spoken person who spoke passionately from his heart about his family’s journey of businessmen thru the ups and down of partition across three countries from India to Pakistan and finally to Bangladesh. “A journey that started with a spark and a flame that burns in their heart” in the words of Aameir, that represents their working style. Under his leadership, Bangladesh Steel Rolling Mills transformed from a small-scale rolling mill to a state-of-the-art largest steel producer in the country. Today SSRM their flagship company, produces 25% of the country’s 1.6 million tons of steel , has the world’s largest induction furnace, are the largest electricity consumer of Bangladesh, have 15,000 vehicles on the road anytime and direct employer of 4,000 people. Best Brand Award and National Export Trophy are a testimony of his contribution and achievements. SSRM contributes to Environment sustainability and giving it back to society by running schools and providing free education to needy students. These achievements in Aameir words are based on a companywide culture of adapting and welcoming change management , implementing new technology, focus on quality, people and team spirit, and above all the Values of Honesty, Integrity and Hard work everyone lives by every day. Additionally, under his leadership, the group conducts several CSR initiatives. Minutes of Meeting	Highlight of our Weekly Meeting on 19th August was the induction of new members into Metropolitan family. Membership Director PP Padma’s intensive, meticulous efforts bore fruit resulting in 5 new members joining RCPM that day. Formal induction was done with an Oath administered by the Chief Guest Brij Sethi, District Membership Chair. Rtn Brij has been a Rotarian for 17 years and has handled various important responsibilities at the District level, besides being a Major Donor Our new members include Rtn. Prerana Joshi and Anna Kedar. As you would have read in the previous issue of RCPM Bulletin, Prerana not only holds high educational qualifications, but is also a renowned sportsperson. Daughter of our own PP Avinash Joshi and Ann Ashwinitai, she has been a Rotaracter and became a PHF long ago. She wants to carry out her family tradition of doing great work in Rotary just like her sister Rtn. Amita Nene. Our next new member is Reshma Sambare who holds Engineering and Law degrees from India and US and has done exceptional work with youth and women in tribal areas and victims of domestic violence. She described problems faced by Asian women in US. They suffer from domestic violence, leading to visa deprivation, poverty and other problems. This experience propelled her to work for social service. She has established an NGO, Jhep Foundation Niwara for this purpose in India. RCPM has a Banker as a new member in Rtn. Aarya Palsule. Aarya wished to join Rotary in keeping with her family tradition. She said she is keenly interested in doing work for the benefit of the society, for which Rotary provides a channel. Last to join in, travelling through the difficult Pune traffic was Rtn. Uday Karne. Uday has inherited the aptitude for social work from his father, known as Karne Guruji who is a most popular figure in Yerawada area. Uday has carried out tremendous work for Covid warriors, patients and general public during the pandemic, being truly devoted to humanitarian work
