The provision of toilet blocks and handwash stations especially in schools (WiNS) is a Rotary Thrust Area. However, it is observed that once the facility is handed over the maintenance is poor. Sustainability can only be brought about by a change in mindset and by imparting awareness about important aspects of hygiene. When it comes to female students menstrual hygiene is of utmost importance. Poor menstrual hygiene is number one reason for a host of diseases including cervical cancer. Menstruation is also the number one reason for absenteeism and school dropout. The club lead by President and Anns conducted the M hygiene awareness camp across the four schools Karanjivihire , Dhamane , Pait and Shive. The adolescent girls ( from classes 4th to 9th were addressed over session lasting over 1 hr and questions were answered. A movie was shown. This can be considered as an Interact club activity of special importance, especially because it covers hygiene and environment . Good habits include disposal of sanitary wear in a responsible manner. Provided is the link for the educational movie.
