27-08-2015 - 27-08-2015

On 27th August 2015 Rotaract Club of SVIMS conducted a workshop on preparing bags from the News Papers. Mrs. Vishaka Vichare, a trainer associated with Rtn Surendra Shroff guided us on how to prepare paper bags. 10 students participated from MBA Part I & II. Rotaract President Rtr. Cilestina Swamy felicitated Mrs. Vichare before the demonstration began. Mrs. Vichare started with teaching us the basic paper bag which is called F - bag. This bag is made with one sheet of newspaper and can carry up to 1.5kgs of weight and can be used to purchase daily grocery items. We went on to learn the making of D-Bags which are multipurpose bags prepared from two sheets of newspaper and can carry up to 3kgs of weight. This was followed by a demonstration of making The Box bag, which can be used to carry and store shoes. This bag is prepared from the three sheets of newspaper and can carry up to 5kgs of weight. By the end of the session, we all were eager to learn making many more bags but because of time constraint, we had to stop with the making of The Shopping bag which is prepared from four sheets of newspaper and can carry up to 7kgs of weight. Rotaract club of SVIMS would like to extend its deep gratitude to Rtn. Surendra Shroff for keeping his promise to help us organize this workshop. We are also very grateful to Mrs. Vishaka Vichare for sharing with us her expertise and we also request her to come again and teach us the other varieties of such newspaper bags. Through such activities we hope to make our contribution towards the betterment of the environment.
