Past President Rtn. Charu Shrotri a truly exemplary Rotarian who has been an integral part of our Rotary family for many years. With a remarkable tenure of 27 years in Rotary, Rtn. Charu has demonstrated unwavering dedication and commitment to the ideals of service above self.
Throughout his journey, he has made significant contributions across all Avenues of Service— Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, International Service, and Youth Service— bringing his expertise, passion, and leadership to every project where he has been involved in.
Whether it’s organizing impactful community initiatives, championing international humanitarian projects, mentoring newer Rotarians, or providing invaluable professional insights, he has consistently gone above and beyond to make a difference. His tireless efforts and enthusiasm has not only strengthened his club but have also inspired those around them to strive for excellence in service.
As a senior Rotarian, his wealth of experience and enduring commitment continue to be a beacon of guidance and support for all of us.
Under Charu’s exceptional leadership and strategic vision, RID3131 hassuccessfully overseen the highest collection of over USD 9.10 lacs in Annual Fund ever in the history of the District’s contributions to this vital fund that gave our District the honour of being No 1 District in Annual Fund contributions in the entire South Asia Region.
His dedication, persuasive communication, and tireless fundraising efforts have set a new standard for generosity and support within our District, ensuring that the Rotary Foundation has the resources needed to continue its impactful work both locally and globally. Through creative initiatives, persistent outreach, and an unwavering belief in Rotary’s mission, he has inspired fellow Rotarians to contribute at unprecedented levels.
This record-breaking achievement not only reflects his outstanding leadership but also his deep commitment to furthering Rotary’s humanitarian programs and empowering change-makers worldwide. It is a testament to his ability to unite people for a common cause and to make a tangible difference.

Member of Rotary Club of Poona West, the 3rd oldest club of our then District that has a legacy of 55 Years.

Club Level Assignments:
Held various club level positions in the avenues of Fellowship, International, Polio, Service Projects, Exchange Programmes, Literacy Projects, Rotary Foundation, Joint Secretary, Secretary before becoming Club President in 2018 (Clubs 50th Year) Is currently Club Trainer. He has been appointed as District Conference Chair (2025-26) & Mentor-TRF, RID 3131 (2025-26). Has been a Primary Contact for 5 Global Grants. Hosted 3 IYE and 2 GSE exchange programme candidates.

Attendance at Rotary meets/events:
Attended 18 Conferences, almost all PETS, DTA, AGAC, DTTS, Seminars in the last 7 years. Attended International Convention at Hamburg in 2019.
Significant Achievements:
Created a synergy group 8 clubs from a rural belt and brought them together and executed a global grant funded project of upgradation of 2 PHCs in their area involving all 8 clubs in synergy with bigger clubs in Pune city area. Helped in resolving internal disputes of 2 clubs. Established Control Centre at Pune at very short notice for Mahad Flood Relief Operations. Helped numerous clubs to complete their global grants application till closure process. Have been voluntarily guiding Rotarians, Dist. Officers, Clubs by making use his Rotary experience. Successfully completed a synergy global grant funded project Mamata involving 58 clubs and donating baby warmers across Dist. 3131 in a record time of 2 months. (Grants sanction time was just 18 days) Was responsible for Happy School project of 105 schools in 5 years involving local clubs in project areas as synergy partners. In RY 2023-24 he has
surpassed all precious APF records of RID 3131 by motivating donors to donate over USD.9.10 lacs thereby achieving a status of No 1 in South Asia for RID 3131.
Awards:

Spirit of Giving:
He has till now donated over USD 60,000 to the Rotary Foundation and has achieved the status of Major Donor level 3. He is also Paul Harris Society member and Benefactor.
Personal Information:
Born: 25th June 1963 (61 Yrs) at Pune INDIA. Family: Wife Parnita is a qualified teacher and since over 2 decades has been giving free tuitions to kids in slums. Daughter Isha is married and is promotor of LernPunkt Language Academy that conducts private German Classes, and she also runs a baking business. Son in Law Nandan Dongre is owner of ‘Rand Polyproducts Pvt Ltd” a manufacturer of epoxy and polymer products at Pirangut Hobbies: Travelling/Driving, Nature, Animals, Photography, Organic Gardening, DIY, Carpentry, Socializing, Watching Netflix. Visited 42 + Countries so far and did various self-drive and solo tours within India and abroad. The longest being a self-drive from Pune to Germany in 2017 covering 21644 Kms in 67 days via 14 Countries.

Ex Promoter of “NIRMITI AUTOCOMPONENTS PVT LTD” with plants in Pune & Uttarakhand since inception in 1998 and “CJ AUTOMOTIVE” Sweden since 2009, renowned leadersin manufacturing “PEDAL SYSTEMS” for various car brands.

Recipient of the prestigious Udyog Shree Award (given to 1st generation Marathi Businessman) at the hands of then Minister of Industries Mr. Ashok Chavan.) Certified ISO/TS 16949 & ISO 14001 Part of 100 SMEs of India in the CII SME Cluster Programme Recipient of Best Suppliers Awards from OEMs on multiple occasions.
