A few members of our club, along with Dr. Ajit Gokhale, actively participated in the Chipko Andolan at Baner, standing in solidarity to protest against the proposed cutting of trees along the Mutha River. This movement has played a crucial role in raising awareness among citizens about the importance of preserving Pune’s green cover. Despite the corporation’s sanction for tree cutting, environmentalists, celebrity actors, social activists, and prominent Pune citizens came together to voice their strong opposition. The demonstration was a powerful call for sustainable urban planning and environmental responsibility, urging authorities to reconsider their decision in the interest of ecological balance. Our club remains committed to environmental conservation efforts and will continue to support initiatives that safeguard nature for future generations.
