PDG. Dr. Shailesh Palekar initiated the Idea for Creating an Organ Donation Awareness in the Society but eventually promoted it to The Entire Nation. A Guinness World Record for the same was created to add a bit of motivation to reach more people and a mechanism was generated to get actual pledges. Pledges were received from 950 cities from all parts of India. We also got support and guidance of Mrs. Aarti Gokhale who is the Chief Coordinator of Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre and NOTTO Director Dr. Vimal Kumar Bhandari.

More than 100 Rotary Volunteers were a part of TRAINING THE TRAINERS program. Club Presidents, Rotarians, Rotaractors and Volunteers were on their toes doing technical presentations in many Educational Institutes & Corporate offices. More than 200 presentations were helpful in creating awareness in & around Pune City. Professional and Technical support helped us reach out to @25 lakhs population within a short period.

TV channel promotion & Radio FM 95.0 helped us to keep the subject live. Mega shows were organized to attract the people towards the noble cause. An effective press conference also helped to attract print media. The Number of Organ donations significantly increased in the following year (Almost doubled) much of it can be contributed to our awareness session. Received an Award for the same from Health Ministry in Delhi!
