From our club, singers Uday Thatte, Pallavi Nerurkar, Vaishali Lupane, Milind Patil, Mugdha Kulkarni, Vidya Patil, Sameer Prabhune & Vikas Waghmare participated in the singing. | Minutes of Meeting | *'अविस्मरणीय युद्धकथा'* The programme was organised by the initiative of Rotary Club Pune Pride with 11 other clubs through their Shukrangan platform on 3rd of March at Sumant Mulgaonkar hall at MCCIA Pune. RCP Pride President Rtn. Ujwal Kele welcomed the speakers and the audiance. Anna Sunil Deo introduced the speakers, Wing Commander Vinayak Davray (Veteran of 1965 and 1971 India-Pakistan Wars) and Group Captain Anant Bewoor (Veteran of 1971 India-Pakistan War). Rotarian Sunetra Mankani spoke about the contributions by the speakers and recite their मानपत्रे. After felicitation, the speakers spoke about the memorable battle-tales from the Book “अविस्मरणीय युद्धकथा,” published in December 2021 and introduced “हुतात्मा गोविंदराव डावरे,” published in September 2022. Everyone was really touched and mesmerised when DavrayJi took us back in the history and articulated the bravery of Captain Bana SinghJi and his courageous team’s tenacity in the most difficult situation. It was at the same time, thrilling to listen to the extraordinary efforts and bravery demonstrated by our Jawans to land at Soltoro Ridge west of Siachen Glacier in April 1984 and captured the posts in extreme cold and strong winds at altitudes as high as 21,000 feet. Captain Bana Singh (born 6 January 1949) is an Indian soldier and a recipient of the nation's highest gallantry award, the Param Vir Chakra. Huge Salute to the real national Hero Captain Bana SinghJi. DavrayJi also spoke about हुतात्मा Govindrao Davray. The most emotional part was the narration of how DavrayJi’s great-grandfather Govindrao, an associate of Krantiveer Vasudeo Balwant Phadke, was martyred by burning alive by the British Indian Government at Pune, on 13 December 1879 by setting fire to his custody-hut. And how his two brothers (freedom-fighters) were tortured at Kalapani at the Andaman Islands from 1873 for twenty-one years. Similarly BewoorJi gave us a thrilling ride in past on how he was selected among 12 pilots who were trained in USSR on the giant aircraft IL-76, and their“Airborne Assault” into Maldives on 03 November 1988, by landing the first IL-76 aircraft with 220 paratroopers. Bewoorji also narrated the amazing experience about his unarmed flight over east Pakistan to gather electronic intelligence in 1971 on ANTONOV AN-12 (Russian), very high tech and expensive surveillance plane of that time. The entire audience was enthralled and were listening both veterans keenly with a pin drop silence. A few questions from the audience were aptly answered by the veteran speakers. The vote of thanks was given by Hillside President Rotarian Vibhawari Deshpande , in eloquent poetic form, which was very unique and liked by the veterans & audience. Both Indian Armed Forces veterans appreciated the conduct of the entire function that was highly professional and at a clockwork precision like an armed forces’ exercise. This program was unforgettable and will be remembered by all with a huge respect for both the veterans Wing Commander VinayakJi Davray & Group Captain AnantJi Bewoor and of course with a greatest respect for our great Indian Armed Forces”. |
