| Minutes of Meeting | An enjoyable talk by Rtn. Charu Shrotri of his Self-Drive experience in 2017 from Pune to Germany. Five vehicles began their journey, with two occupants each, and in the process covered 21,644 kms encompassing 14 countries. The route he took from India was Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, China, Russia, Central Asian Republics like Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan then to Latvia, Estonia, Poland and finally Hamburg, Germany. Charu began by speaking about the preparation for this trip. It entailed branding the vehicles, necessary paperwork and permissions and visas among others. He narrated his journey as he passed each country. The warm hospitality they received in Myanmar to the cold reception in China. This was the period when Doklam standoff took place and the Chinese people were very suspicious of Indians. |
