| Minutes of Meeting | Our President, NPS Bakshi started the meeting & welcomed the speaker of the evening Mrs. Mahrukh N. Bharucha of the ‘Expressions Unlimited Academy’, Pune. Before Mrs. Bharucha could commence her talk, there was a hushed silence as our dear Rtn PDG Sam Irani & Rtn Ann Katy made an entry along with their family members, (after an absence of 2 years). The President welcomed them & many members rushed to meet PDG Sam. Mrs. Mahrukh Bharucha began her talk, forewarning the audience that it was going to be slightly bawdy & scatological. As earlier announced the talk was titled “Parsi-isms-we Bawas say the strangest things.” The Speaker traced the history of the Parsees in India, their affinity for the British Royal family & the adoption of Gujrati as their lingua franca in India. However, the Gujrati spoken by the Parsees was very distinguishable from that spoken by the Gujratis. At 8 pm, the members were invited for cocktails & a “Jamva Chaloji” sit down dinner. Kudos must be given to the caterers of the Poona Club for serving authentic Parsee dishes. 126 members & friends enjoyed a sumptuous finger licking Parsee dinner, with a lot of laughter & bonhomie. |
