Minutes of Meeting BOD April 2024 Rotary Club of Pune Central – RY 2023–24 Board Meeting Minutes Date: Wednesday, 10 th April 2024 Time: 18:00 Venue: Club Office, Yogi Park Attendance Present: Rtn. Ajay Chitnis, Rtn. Delshad Karanjia, Rtn. PP Ajay Dubey, Rtn. PP Ravi Kapoor, Rtn. Dr. Saroj Bande, Rtn. Nitin Rajore, and Rtn. Giri Sakhrani. Leave of Absence: Rtn. Ashish Goyal, Rtn. Due to lack of a quorum, the meeting was adjourned at 6 p.m. and reconvened at 6.15 p.m. President Ajay Chitnis welcomed Directors to the tenth meeting of the Board. 2. The minutes of the Board meeting held on March 12, 2024 were approved. 3. It was agreed that the name of deceased Rtn. Arjun Jethwani would be deleted from the RI website. 4. Leave of absence was approved for Rtn. PP Ravi, who will be travelling abroad from April 28, 2024 to July 31, 2024. 5. President Ajay informed Board Members that a CSR contribution of Rs 3 crores had been received from Rtn. Dr. Nitin Desai for cataract eye surgeries. This would enable the target of 15,000 surgeries being met. Once Wockhardt Foundation comes on board, by next year we could achieve 18,000 surgeries. 6. Under the Gift of Life project, 50 pediatric surgeries will be done at the cost of Rs. 1.5 lakhs per surgery. 7. President Ajay added that the Rotaract Club of Pune Startup, co-hosts for Rotary District training, have requested our club’s financial support. It was agreed that RCPC would contribute Rs.10,000. Rtn. PP Ajay said that sustainability was always an issue for Rotaract and Interact clubs. He said RCPC had made great efforts in the past to integrate Rotaract and Interact clubs but their goals were different. 8. Rtn. Dr Saroj reported that the Ashray Foundation’s Menstrual Health awareness program was under way. For the HPV vaccine campaign for prevention of cervical cancer, she said that the need was to create awareness amongst parents, and then get them to sign a consent form agreeing to administering two doses of the vaccine to their daughters. 9. In his update on Global Grants, Rtn. PP Ravi said that closure reports had been accepted on all but one project. The GG for pan-India cataract surgery has been provisionally approved. Pediatric surgery and Green PC projects were also in the pipeline. ITC had requested further documentation before committing to various Rotary projects. 10. Rtn. Giri Sakhrani reported that the restoration of a 300-metre dam in Rajapur village in Satara District was progressing well. A trench had been dug and had been covered with heavy plastic sheeting to avoid erosion and leakage. The Happy Village well project now had piped water supply. Villagers had also contributed funds for the pipelines. 11. President Ajay said that the charter for the Rotaract Club at Christ University in Lavasa was under way. 12. Rtn. Nitin said that nominations for the Vocational Service Awards would be reviewed and the nominees interviewed on Zoom. He also gave details on the proposed International Picnic to Georgia in September 2024. 13. The meeting concluded with a Vote of Thanks.

Meeting Agenda RAW Mission -1971 On 30 January 1971, an Indian Airlines domestic Fokker F27, also named "Ganga", flying from Srinagar Airport to the Jammu-Satwari Airport, was hijacked by two Kashmiri separatists belonging to the National Liberation Front (NLF, the antecedent of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front). The hijackers were Hashim Qureshi and his cousin Ashraf Qureshi. The aircraft was flown to Lahore Airport in Pakistan where the passengers and the crew were released and the aircraft was burnt down.
