WATERSHED3 is envisaged by President Prakash Telang as the Signature Project of RC Poona. This GG Project will "Make A Difference" to the lives of around 3500+ families in the villages of Maveshi,Manik Ozar & Barvachi Wadi in the Akole Taluka of Ahmednagar Dist. Most of these families are tribals who have been detached from the economic mainstream & our aim by this project is to ensure a sustainable economic development for these villagers by way of agriculture leading to the next phase of increasing Literacy and eventually culminating in a Happy Village. Around 72% of them are below poverty level. The Watershed project which will last for at least 3 Rotary years in a phased manner & will ensure lifelong sustained economic enrichment for the families from agricultural produce as it shall cover around 1000 hectares of currently barren land and eventually make it cultivable. For a Project of this size and it's positive ramifications on the beneficiaries , RC Poona has included quite a few stakeholders including the intended beneficiaries in addition to global & local Rotary Clubs i.e. Districts 1930+1980+1990, CSR Funding from Tata Capital and WOTR will be implementing this project on Ground Zero. The currently budgeted outlay is approx USD334k of which the partner clubs are around USD31k,Partner Districts are around USD27.5k,RC Poona is USD30k,Dist3131 is USD10k,GG is USD60k, TATA Capital CSR fund is USD70 and so on. It is by far the highest value based project undertaken by RC Poona YTD and in times to come will be regarded as the torchbearer project for the next generations.
