Foodgrain and Ewaste collection and donation drive While working with our Rotaractors for their yearlong medical camps in various organizations for underprivileged or disabled, it was noticed by our Muktangan Interact club that getting adequate monthly groceries with donations is a always a difficult job for these organizations.Morever they also observed that our very own Interact Club at C.R.Ranganathan school for deaf is also facing the same problem.Keeping this in mind,a food grain collection drive was organized in Muktangan school in which Interactors from Muktangan school jointly executed the activity and Rotaractors mentored them. The foodgrains collected was donated to C. R. Rangnathan Residential School For Deaf in Tingre Nagar, Pune through the hands of Interactors. Around 800 kgs of food grain including wheat, rice and sugar were collected during the drive. Around 100 students at the residential were benefited through this activity. The satisfaction of helping another Interact club was clearly visible on the faces of Muktangan School interactors, during the small handover ceremony held at the school. Being highly obliged, the Interactors of C.R.Ranganathan school for Deaf, presented beautiful drawings prepared by them, to the Muktangan interactors. Ewaste collection drive With growing environmental hazards that it poses, ewaste disposal has become an imperative task in recent years. Although ewaste like discarded computers and its accessories, batteries, mobile phones and all such items has increased yet proper information about their disposing is not widely circulated. These electronic waste items contain material such as lead, nickel, plastic and many more components which damage environment. These waste material can be recycled and reused for many other processes and is done by an authorized Ewaste treatment plant. With an initiative to save environment in as little way as possible, Interact club of Muktangan , sponsered by RC Pune Katraj along with food grain collection drive, also arranged an Ewaste collection drive in same Muktangan School campus. With the help of interactors and rotarians we managed to collect as much as 300 kgs of Ewaste which was sent for disposal at a local Ewaste collection centre in Pune.
