Wari Project: Rotary Club of Chinchwad Wari Project, the first Service Project of Rotary Club of Chinchwad for 2012-13 was indeed a memorable experience for the Rotarians and Anns.36 members of the club started for Wari early in the morning at 7.30 a.m. and joined the Jog Dindi Troop of warkaries (pilgrims) near Theur at 10a.m. The effervescent members of the club with their bubbling enthusiasm started marching with the warkaries and soon entered the vast ocean of Bhakti tradition of Maharashtra. The chanting of ‘Gyanba Tukaram’, ‘Vitthala Vittala Jai Hari Vittala’ along with the rhythmic foot steps transformed the club members into devout warkaries. The background music of the musical instruments such as Veena, Mridunga, Dholaki, Chiplis and not the least the incessant clapping by the warkaries brought zeal and fervor to the holy atmosphere. The Rotarians with the saffron coloured triangular patakas (flags) in hands and Anns with the sacred tulasi plants on their heads whole heartedly sang the bhajans. The enthusiastic Anns enjoyed playing the traditional folk dance fugadi. The distance of 9 kilometers was covered with ease and grace due to the enchanting and enthralling atmosphere. The delicious lunch was followed by a small informal programme in which the Head of Jog Dindi Hon. Mr. Mama Golande was felicitated at the hands of President Rtn. Vijay Desai and PE Rtn Prasad Ganpule. The amount of Rs. 11,500/- was donated to Jog Dindi. Two large size gas burners, stainless steel buckets and jugs were provided to the troop. After Wari the Club members proceeded to Rtn. Ganesh and Ann Manisha Kudale’s Farmhouse at Yavat. The lush green farm, the cool breeze and the ginger tea refreshed the members and they all set for their return journey with an aspiration and determination to rejoin the warkaries next year. The participation in Wari was indeed an invigorating experience for not only the members of the Club but also for the members of Rotary Club of Nigdi and Inner Wheel Club, Pimpri who attended Wari. The sweet memories of Wari will be ever cherished by the club members of Rotary Club of Chinchwad. Wari stands for national integration. The participation and amalgamation of the people of diverse castes and creed in Wari talk in volumes about the rich cultural heritage of India. Wari Project represents the Rotary Theme ‘Peace through Service’ in the real sense.
