Book Donation Programme A Book Donation Programme was held in Chintamani Night School, Chinchwad Station, Chinchwad on 4th July, 2012. The school is meant for the have-nots of the society. Most of the students who attend the school are from the slums of Pimpri Chinchwad area. Due to the poor economical condition of the students it is very difficult for the students to buy textbooks and notebooks. Moreover the Maharashtra State Board Publication has raised the prices of the books and it is unaffordable to the students. Hence Rotary Club of Chinchwad decided to donate books to the deprived students. Rtn. Sanjay Khanolkar, the Project Chairman, took the initiative and donated Rs. 5000/- for the project. This philanthropic gesture of his was trailed by Rtn. Dhanraj Kodnani, PP Rtn. Rajendra Pophale, PP Rtn. Kishor Gujar, PP Rtn. Satish Ambekar, PP Rtn. Awtarsingh Sokhi who also gave their share of Rs. 5000/-. A small programme was organized in one of the classrooms of the school. President Rtn. Prasad Ganpule was the Chairperson of the programme. The programme started by paying a floral tribute to Swami Vivekananda. The Principal of the school in his introductory speech thanked Rotary Club Chinchwad and told that the donation would take the students a long way in their academic endeavor. The students were offered the sets of text books at the hands of the Rotarians and Anns. President Rtn. Prasad Ganpule stated that Rotary is a service organization which works for the society. Upliftment of the poor and needy people in the society is always the priority in Rotary Agenda. He also declared that the club intends to donate the school with a Rotary Distance Education Programme E-Learning Kit.
