A one day workshop was arranged by RCPD for Anganwadi teachers and workers on Wednesday 25 April 2018 under Foseco CSR Global Grant 1866568 where we are providing Teaching Aids to 36 Balwadis of Lonikand, Sanaswadi and Chakan. Very competent trainers led by Mrs Rajani Date conducted the entire programme. The faculty: Mrs Date (M.A., Political Science) is a Montessori-trained teacher having an experience of 36 years as teacher, Head-Mistress and Senior Superintendent at the Abhinav Pre-primary School. She has published 11 books devoted to children and their parents & guardians, audio cassettes, conducted workshops, teaching programmes, runs a free library (20+ years) for parents and has given child-centric talks on All India Radio. She has received a number of honours and awards for her work. Mrs Date was ably supported by Ms Hemlata Bharekar, Sheetal Deshmukh and Hema Kanitkar. Mrs Charu Mathur also graced the event. The program (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) was conducted in Marathi the preferred language of the audience. As many as 60 anganwadi workers and teachers from numerous rural schools were benefitted. The first session was about how to handle children and make them learn words not by writing but by playing games, identifying objects and visuals, playing audio-video cassettes and singing songs to generate interest, making it a happy experience. Our club has also given a number of teaching aid sets -one per anganwadi- to the participants. How to use them was also explained by the teachers. Other subjects covered were Multiple Intelligence, communication skills and Effective Learning Environment. We are grateful to Mrs Charu Mathur who was instrumental in organising the programme. Our club was represented by President Rajesh, first lady Pritee, PP Yezdi and R'ann Poroochi Batliwala and R'ann Meena Latey.
