The 4 rural primary schools (state district schools) are in Dhamne, Karanjvihire, Pait and Shive villages outside Pune, India. They had non usable and insufficient toilets for the students, because of which absenteeism and dropouts rates were high, especially among the girls. This GG project worth $36750 has Rotary Club of Fort Collins Breakfast as our International partner and RC Khadki as our local partner. The total students beneficiaries are around 600 in the 4 schools but will increase as WinS facilities are built. This project also involves intensive daily training in proper use of toilets and hand washing plus availability of filtered clean drinking water. This awareness is a huge mindset change which the students must spread among their families. Open defecation and urinating will become history and the students health and cleanliness will increase the attendance, quality of education and life.
