Rotary 3131 - Project Details

Rotary Club District 3131 has taken as a major thrust area for 2018-19, ‘organ donation awareness initiative’ with the objective of reducing the gap in numbers of organ donors and recipients in India. As such many young lives are lost due to the want of organs. RCP Sports City was one of the first, to align itself with this initiative called “GIFT LIFE”. The objective was to get maximum Pledges for Organ Donation. Starting in May (13th training the trainers) the campaign continued in the months of July and August. The campaign was carried out in Residential Societies (Supreme Palms 14th/07, Aloma County 29th/07, Kumar Padmalaya 23rd/07), other Rotary clubs (RCP Baner 6th/07, RCP East 20th//07), Educational Institutes ( Government Polytechnic 21st /07, Suryadatta Pashan 26th/07 & 6th/08 and SIFT, PIAT, SIVAS, SICEM 31st/07, Mitcon Institute of Management 4th/08) and Companies (Wife-soft Teerth Technospace 13th/07, BNY Mellon3rd /08, Veritas 4th/08, Serum Institute 3th/08 ). The drive was spearheaded by the President and was supported by members. It is ongoing. On 18th Feb19 it was conducted in Thermax. Special mention: PP Dr Ganesh & Kiran Rao, , Rtn Rishikesh Ghare, Rtn Dr Suresh Beri, Anns Geeta and Dolly Sethi. 14th /07 was a combined membership drive by PP Trilok K. On 9th August, the efforts of organ donation drive culminated into success for RID3131. A new world record for 22,311 online pledges in an 8 hours window was created. The direct beneficiaries are close to a lakh as one donor can give differnent organs to multiple recipients.
