Total renovation of a rundown government school was carried out at Dhamane village near Pune. The height of sidewalls of all classrooms were elevated and the asbestos roof was replaced. The school ground full of huge bolders was leveled. Boundary wall, school gate, windows and doors were replaced. electrical lights ,fans and other fixture were replaced. School bags, benches, musical instruments, RDEP, sports equipment, library were provided.Details: Excellent entrance, periphery of school premises were fully covered with barbed wires, safety walls at the back, the floor was done with paver blocks, each classroom fitted with new blackboard, white top 50 new benches, tables, cupboards, chairs, ceiling fans , new latest electrical fittings, musical instruments _viz harmonium tablas, all prayer meeting requirements. RDEP (Rotary Distance Education Program ), equipments -viz Computer loaded syllabus, Monitor and battery back-up ), sound sustem, mic, amplifier, sports playing equipment are being provided. Also, the solar panel will be fixed. The school was painted throughout.Trees were planted. Separate washrooms for boys and girls with overhead and ground storage tanks were also provided by RCPSC and partners (provided as part of GG 1751463) .Pedagogical teachers training was conducted. We also conducted sessions on General Hygiene for students and toilet maintenance and menstrual Hygiene awareness for girls. The larger impact of the project was visible with the students winning competitions and excelling in various examinations held across Chakan. We have several such reports. in the last few months from newspaper articles. All articles provided carried Rotary branding. The project was flagged off by DG Dr Shailesh in 16th August and work started in October during Diwali break. In January the facility was handed over with foreign partners and Rotary friendship exchange delegated attending the handing over. Dhamane School Students Shine in State ScholarshipExaminations (April 2019) In its 61 years history, for the first time ever, Dhamane (Taluka Khed) school students have excelled in the State Scholarship Examinations and have shown the path to success. Three fifth standard students have appeared on the merit list of scholars.
