A Tribal Ashram School is situated in Village Muthalne, Block Junnar District Pune which is about 130 km away from Pune city. It is a residential school started in the month of November 2004 and run by Integrated Tribal Development Project office situated at Ghodegaon, Block Ambegaon District Pune. Total 63 Children (36 girls & 27 boys) from nearby four villages (viz. Kopre, Mandve, Jambulshi & Muthalne) are enrolled in this school. The school doesn’t have their own land for building construction and hence seven private houses are hired for their use. Students are now living with very limited living, drinking water & sanitation facilities. Poor facilities for the students is affecting adversely in enrollment of the students A tribal farmer belonging to village Muthalne has sold his 2 Ha of land to the Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP), Ghodegaon. He has given his written consent & land holding receipt to ITDP for selling of his land. Land registration file is in process and forwarded it to the District Collector for his approval. It is forecasted that minimum four to five years will be required to construct building for this Ashram school if it has to route through regular channel & Government. Hence Headmaster & Project Office, ITDP requested Rotary Club to support in construction of rooms and other infrastructure facilities for Tribal Ashram School, at Muthalne. Presently these students are staying in nearby private Huts, which are practically cattle houses. Lack of Sunlight, water & fresh air causing various skin & digestive diseases to these students. To overcome this poor situation without hoping any support from Government, Rotary Club Pune Sinhagad Road, planned & started construction of class rooms, toilets, bathrooms, storage tank for this Tribal Ashram school on humanitarian ground. The work proposed for tribal Ashram school includes construction of 4 class rooms, 6 bathrooms, 8 toilets, kitchen room, store room, room for office purpose and 5000 Lit storage tank for drinking water purpose. Total financial outlay for this purpose is about 18 Lacs. Hence in association with Lupin Foundation Club has decided to execute this plan. Construction has started from 15th February and our target to complete this work is by June 2013, so that students can start their next academic year in new building. Lupin Foundation is contributing Rs 6 Lacs to Rotary Club for the proposed work. Balance amount required for completion of proposed work will be raised / contributed by Rotary club. Club members and well-wishers are contributing up-to Rs 6 Lacs.
