SERVICE PROJECTS NON-MEDICAL “KOMBAL TEKADI” A HAPPY VILLAGE PROJECT LOCATION: 25 KMS FROM PANVEL BASE OF MATHERAN AT AN ELEVATION OF 100 M PROJECT COST: 20 LACS FOR PHASE 1 START DATE: MAY 2018 END DATE: 5 YEARS FROM THE START. NUMBER OF BENEFICIARIES: 150 ADIVASI FAMILIES OF KOMBAL TEKADI & OTHER VADIS An ambitious project of our club to make KOMBAL TEKADI a happy village. Kombal Tekadi as the name suggest is a tekadi, a small hillock at the foot of Matheran hills where these 150 adivasi families have been residing for generations. During a heath checkup camp organized by Panvel Police and our club we realized that they are faced with 365 day problem of water scarcity, the roads leading to this hillock are unusable during the monsoon season and the primary school is in shambles So we decided to take this as a challenge to convert this village into a Happy Village.We are now in phase 1 where we have constructed an artificial well with natural water springs at sea level and plan to pump this water 100m above sea level to a storage tank in Kombaltekadi where it will be used by these Adivasi families all year round. Phase 2 and 3 will see the roads leading to the village being repaired and the primary school refurbished followed by education of the village personnel on ways and means of making them self-sufficient.
