Rotary 3131 - Project Details

28-06-2019 - 28-06-2019

This annual pai-waari or a pilgrimage on foot is a massive movement that has withstood the test of time. It is more than 700 years old. Every year 7-8 lakh devotees walk over 230 km from Alandi and Dehu to Pandharpur carrying the paduka or footprints of Saint Dynaneshwar and Saint Tukaram. The journey takes 15 days to reach its destination. Each year our club accompanies the devotees from Pune to Saswad carrying a message of social importance. This year a group of 44 Rotarians, Anns and friends of Rotary will walk from Fursungi to Saswad. We will carry placards to raise awareness for judicious use of water and promoting rain water harvesting.
