During this the Rotary Club Poona Downtown spent over 423+ person days and travelled over 30,000 Kms and fitted over 2100 LN-4 Prosthetic hands. The 9 camps were conducted PAN India from Panvel, , Jammu, Berhampur, Nandyal, Vishakhaptanam, Darbhanga, Mettupalayam, Cuttack and Jalna. In addition two more camps in Assam and Kolkata is schedule for next month. We have during the Rotary Year of 2018-19 alone brought smiles to more than 2100 faces. We also run a permanent centre at Maharshtra Arogya Kendra at Hadpsar, where every Saturday afternoon free LN4 hands are given to all the needy person. This year so far we have given over 200 hands. The project takes almost 2.5 to 3 months preparation to have a successful camp, the Host club is guided very closely on how to arrange promotion for the Camp, selection of venue, organization on Pre-Camp and Camp days...... A day to day contact is maintained with the host club to address any hurdles faced by them, so that Camp is smooth and without any major issues. Our team of volunteers reaches the camp location one day prior to camp, trains local volunteers and works with them for successful execution of the camp. Total cost of each camp is between 2-5 lakhs depending upon the size and location. Large numbers of volunteers from the host club also join the camp and therefore per camp number of man-hours by rotations will be around 200-500 hours From our club we would have spend round 4 Lakhs and 400 man-hours. The gratitude expressed in the eyes as also reflected in words from the beneficiaries is most rewarding and keeps this project going.
