Hygiene behaviors are extremely important to prevent leading causes of death and diseases in children, particularly diarrhoea and acute respiratory infections (ARI). An analysis of causes of neonatal and child mortality in India found that half of all deaths in children under five years were a result of pneumonia and diarrhoea diseases. Washing of hands after a visit to the loo or before you eat is a very important. But due to non-availability of proper hand wash facilities in schools especially in rural & municipal corporation run schools, children do not wash hand their hands before meals & after loo and which causes diseases in children, particularly diarrhea. To address the issue, we, Rotary Club of Akurdi has decided to donate & install 100 hand wash stations at various schools in and around Pune to provide proper facility for hand wash to the children. To inaugurate the project we have invited Rtn. Sekhar Mehta (Rotary International President Nominee), Rtn. Ramesh Aggarwal, Memebrs, Wins Committee and other dignitaries.
