Zilla Parishad Primary School in Karunj Village, Tal : Maval, Dist : Pune is the beneficiary school. School students : 197 (93 Boys and 94 girls) Pre School Anganwadi children : 50 School teachers : 5 Karunj Villagers : 2,500 This school is located in Karunj village which is 50 kms from Pune city near the town of Kamshet. The School premises are common with the Village Council office and Post office. The school has 4 different buildings built at different times. The largest being the classoorms – 5 rooms, there is another building with 2 classrooms, one building with teacher’s room and computer/e learning lab and last one is the Anganwadi which is used for preschool nursery. This a Marathi medium school which was established in year . School offers education from Pre Nursery till 7th standard. The school is funded in terms of establishment cost by the Govt of Maharastra through the District Council. Repair and maintenance and newer facility are to be funded by villagers themselves through their Village council. Karunj villagers are mostly in lower income group and lives on agriculture income. The students come from Karunj and nearby villages mostly by walk. Initial visit on 15 May 2019 for identifying a needy school from amongst 11 schools visited by the host club team. Next visit was on 4th June, 2019 for detailed study of the need and discussion with Karunj school management committee and Village Council. On 13th June, another visit was carried out along with the vendors to estimate the cost of the work to be done.
