RC Pune University – RYLA 14th March 2015 RCPU conducted its second RYLA of the year at Shree Siddhivinayak Atrs and Commerce Mahavidyalaya, Pune on Saturday 14th March 2015. The date neatly fits in Rotary International’s Rotaract Week which this year is from 9th to 15th March, especially because this college has a Rotaract Club affiliated to RCPU. The program was meant for undergraduate girl students from B.Com, BA and BBA classes, the latter being predominant among the participants. President Dileep Paranjpye gave an outline of what is Rotary and RYLA after which an unusual speaker was shared her experiences. This was Ramani Ambekar Deshpande, a Chartered Accountant working is a Multi-National and a former Rotaracter herself. She was not just a very active Rotaracter, she has also been the winner of ‘Best Rotaract President’ award and has also visited Mexico as an Rotary Youth Exchange student. In her speech she shared her experiences in Mexico as well as in India, emphasizing on the tremendous effect this had on developing her personality. Another invited speaker Mr. Milind Kulkarni, also working in a multinational bank explained about career opportunities for girls in banking, finance and insurance sectors. Our District’s most sought-after health expert Rtn. Sumedha Bhosale enthralled the participants with valuable guidance about how to keep fit, how to avoid currently prevalent lifestyle ailments and the benefits of a healthy mind in a healthy body. President Dileep made a focused presentation on ‘How to write a Resume’ highlighting the fact that everyone seeking employment has to play upon his or her strengths in a competitive world. He emphasized on the Do’s and Don’ts of Resume’ writing, basing it on his experience of seeing many poorly written resumes. The core mantra was ‘A good interview gets you a job, A good Resume gets you and Interview’ The final speaker PP Pradip Patil kept the audience spell bound with his insightful guidance on how to prepare for job interviews. He went into finer details of attire, time keeping, technical preparation, body language etc. and emphasized that preparation can make or break an interview, irrespective of academic performance. PP Pradip also touched upon the process of forming and running a Rotaract Club, something that the girl students eagerly absorbed. Major support in preparing for the RYLA was provided by First Lady Shobhana Paranjpye and PP Rekha Patil while Rtns. Supriya and Atul Galande were instrumental in finding Career Guidance expert speaker. In addition Secretary Sharang Pande, PE Deepa Gadgil, Rtns. Sujata Kulkarni and Pallavi Deshpande were valuable participants in the program. Our AG Sunil Vispute had graced the occasion from beginning of the program and gave away Certificates and Prizes for Rotaracters who have helped RCPU at various Projects.
