Installation ceremony of our Rotaract Club: RC Pune University’s Rotaract Club at Siddivinayak College of Arts and Commerce, Karve Nagar had its Installation on Saturday, 9th August 2014.The college which is exclusively for girl students, conduct courses in various streams, and the Rotaract Club had been established here by RC Pune University about 8 months ago. Last year, the Rotaractors had participated in NID Polio program as well as Knee Brace Camps which is a signature project of our club. On the day of Installation, President Dileep Paranjpye, together with Secretary Sharang Pande, Youth Services Director PP Rekha Patil and other members of RCPU, were welcomed by college principal Mrs. Ranade. The installation ceremony as initiated by singing of National Anthem by everyone present. Next, all the guests from RCPU were felicitated by college students. Then President Dileep called upon the outgoing President of Rotaract Club to transfer her Collar to the incoming President Ms. Vanita Unecha. Same step was followed for incoming Secretary of Rotaract Ms. Prachi Divekar President Dileep then apprised the students with a refresher talk about Rotary, its history and activities as well as about Rotaract. He explained the opportunities that the students will get for personality development, and the joy of ‘giving back something to the Society’ that Rotaract can provide. These thoughts were immediately reflected by Rotaractors who were next speakers. They narrated their personal experiences while working with RCPU members during Polio Plus work, how they saw various aspects of life of underprivileged people, and the joy of doing something useful. The students were also given tips about conducting meetings, taking up small, independent projects and identifying avenues for doing socially useful work. Roatactors were informed that RCPU Director for Youth Services (PP Rekha Patil) and a mentor for their club (Rtn Sujata Kulkarni) will look after and guide them in their projects. As both were present, students could personally interact with them. At the end, RCPU members had a separate session with the college Principal.Pushpa Ranade andother faculty members. Secretary Sharang and PI Director Vidyanand explained various inputs on Career Guidance, Internship etc. that RCPU can provide to the students. Installation of this Rotaract Club saw enthusiastic participation of a total of 14 RCPU members. Besides the members named above, others who participated were First Lady Shobhana, IPP Ravi, PP Nana, Editor Priyanka as well as Rtns Bapusaheb and Vaishaliraje Shitole, Kumudini Chaudhari, Anuja and Vaishali Oswal. In view of the positive response of the college management, there is no doubt that this Rotaract will be very active and successful.
