RC Pune University – Haemoglobin Checking Camp RCPU actively conducts health check and advise camps, especially at schools. In this endeavor a Haemoglobin (Hb) checking camp was conducted on 3rd January 2015 at Hutatma Rajguru School for their students and staff. Students of this girls’ school come from very low income strata of the society and are vulnerable to malnutrition which can lead to anaemia. On an urgent request from the school to conduct the testing before its Inspection, RCPU agreed to carry out Hb Check up camp, and arranged to provide a medical team and apparatus to do the work. While RCPU’s Director Youth Services PP Rekha Patil and PP Pradip took the full responsibility of conducting the Camp, vital technical support was provided by Rtn. Dr. Supriya Kheur who organized medical supplies and the test team. Coordination between the school and the medical tam was done by First Lady Shobhana while Director Service Projects Rtn. Satish Mohile volunteered to help with on-site arrangements. Work done at the camp at a short notice was voluminous. The team could test a total of 188 blood samples, of which 164 were of students and the rest were from staff. This testing will help the school to get useful assistance from the state agencies. RCPU doctors will independently monitor the result and provide necessary counseling to the students. And as in the past, RCPU will offer remedial help such as Iron supplements for persons who need them. RCPU is committed to well being of the youth of the society, and today’s Project was but one step in our chosen path.
