Prof. Sagar Khaladkar of Lokashri Krida Dyanapeeth received a powered wheelchair from us. . Cost 43000 Sagar Khaladkar, A former state level Kabaddi player and a sports coach at Bharati Vidyapeeth met with an accident in 2013 causing spine injury, which made him Wheelchair bound for rest of life. After the accident he decided to help underprivileged youngsters and his motto is “Your ability matters and not your Disability”. With support of his friends and Bharati Vidyapeeth management, he started conducting FREE COACHING for youngsters in Kothrud, Warje etc. in various sports like Kabaddi, Athletics, Basketball, etc. His aim is to coach youngsters from under privileged areas, he coaches about 20 girls and 80 boys. His ambition is to coach them for National andInternational levels. He has a dream to open Shivaji Maharaj National Sports University in Pune. He has been facing lots of difficulty in movement on the sports ground. And wished to have a powered wheelchair so that he can move on the ground easily and work with more enthusiasm. Hence our club gifted him a battery powered wheelchair yesterday on 3rd Feb. He expressed his gratitude to members of Rotary Club of Poona Downtown for this gesture. Because of Rtn Jitu Mehta's efforts our club could buy this Wheelchair at a bargain price.
