Salient points of the Rotary India’s Defeat Diabetes Campaign.   1. India is home to the second highest number of diabetes patients in the world. 2. 10 lac (1 Million) diabetes tests are to be conducted on 29th Sep - World Heart Day. It may be designated as a “Rotary Service Day” in the district. RIP Shekhar is very keen to celebrate Rotary Service Days with mass participation. The aim is to create a world record and discussions are being held with various book of records organizations to cover this event 3. RCP Horizon (RCPH) has accepted the District request and have gear up to accomplish this project on 29th September, 2021. 4) The Project location will at off NIBM Road - Krishna Nagar at Shree Clinic. Dr. Monica (Shree Clinic Owner) has agreed to allocate space within a clinic and also based on RCPH request agreed to assign one of her staff to help RCPH members for testing. 5) RCPH have made 2 Banners (English and Marathi) and have posted near the location site. Additionally, printed leaflets and distributed in the nearby societies. House owners has been requested to mentioned about Defeat Diabetes Project to the House maids, securities etc. 6) The district has provided One Glucometer and 100 Lancets. 2 RCPH members have downloaded the app and tested. RCPH target is to test more than 100 people and so have additionally purchased 50 lancets. All Covid 19 precautions have been taken by individual RCPH members I.e. will be wearing I95 mask and gloves. Also, will ensure house maids and all others coming for test will wear appropriate mask.
