Rotary 3131 - Project Details

19-11-2021 - 19-11-2021

27 farmers (including a couple of women farmers) from Shirur, Malthan and Baramati attended the day long workshop conducted at Suhana’s demo farm at Yewat. The workshop demonstrated best practices w.r.t. to organic farming and farming allied businesses. Specifically, how this could economically benefit the farmer while creating a positive impact to the society. The day long workshop included: 1. Live demonstrations showing how to create organic fertilizers, insecticides, pesticides, and various farming allied products primarily using cow dung. 2. Audio-visual narrations by both national and international sustainable farming gurus. 3. Demonstrating how farmers could package their product and leverage online market places to sell their farming allied products. 4. Visit to the Suhana sustainable farm, Dal mill, Oil mill, Cottage Cheese processing unit etc. 5. Tour of the factory and warehouse was a revelation. The objective was to encourage and inspire farmers to think big and out of the box! Everyone also enjoyed breakfast, lunch and tea amidst the natural and green surroundings. Feedback from all the participants was extremely encouraging. The participants are keen to put what they learnt to practice and have promised to keep us informed as they make progress. President Asis Ray, first lady Ipsita Ray, Rtn. Vaibhav Pore, Rtn. Shailendra and Ann Urmila were present during the workshop. Thanks to the TEFF team for conducting this very successful workshop. Many thanks to Rtn. Vaibhav Pore for identifying the farmers and ensuring their participation. Thanks also to PP Rtn. Jitu Mehta for introducing us with TEFF/Suhana. This was truly a one-of-a-kind workshop. We plan to have another similar workshop soon.
