Rotary Club of Pune Pride had a memorable Fitness day on January 22 ,2022. Age may be a mere number for 50-year-old Ashish Kasodekar. But the numbers that matter for him are the kilometres he has covered during his runs — jaw-dropping distances like 111 km, 222 km and 555 km — among other ultra-marathon efforts. The triple five was achieved in the rarefied heights of Ladakh two years ago. Pune-based Kasodekar is a well known passionate runner currently undergoing test of endurance — 60 full marathons to be run in 60 days at the Savitribai Phule Pune University .The final marathon has been timed for Republic Day. To support Ashish’s herculean task ,30 members from RCP Pride participated in the Fitness Day marathon which was flagged off by District Governer Pankaj and First Lady Priya on enthusiastic cool morning at 8:30am at Savitribai Phule University campus. District Sports Chairman Sudhir Kakade also was present on the occasion. DG Pankaj encouraged Ashish and wished him success in his endeavour and also signed as an official witness for Ashish’s effort for the Guinness world record to complete 60 marathons in 60 consecutive days. DGN Manjoo Phadke distributed the medals to runners who completed 5 km .The participants completed the Run of 5 kilometres on the same route designated for the 60 days Ultramarathon by Ashish. During the challenging times of COVID, outdoor events to keep fitness and morale higher up are planned at Rotary Club of Pune Pride by Club administration Director Ujwal Kele , PI Director Medha Dhorje with support of club members Anil and Anita Kasodekar. Post marathon , Rotary meeting was conducted by Club President Dr Ashwini Ganapule and Secretary Sudhir Bapat which was also attended by AG Sandip Patil.
