through the courtesy of Dr Bageshree and Dr. Parikshit Gogate, we were invited by Shree Pawsha Ganapati Sr. Citizen’’ forum, Warje to address them on Eye and Organ donation. Rotarians Pradeep Munot and Jeetubhai Mehta accompanied me to their venue on 12 th March 2022. We were received by the President Mr. Muralidhar Raybagkar and their secretary Mr. Uttamrao Dikkatwar. After a brief welcome, I made a brief introduction to our club and to GOV in particular. I mentioned what has been achieved so far in last 30 odd years. Rotarian Pradeep Munot then began his presentation, starting with a short film of an actual case of a child, Komal who was 3 years old who had lost an eye. She received an eye from a donor. The film showed how it changed her whole life. The film created the right atmosphere for the presentation which followed. Pradeepjee then proceeded in his inimitable style and verve. The audience was totally spellbound during the entire period. During the question/ answer session that followed, many doubts were cleared by Pradeepjee and Jeetu Mehta. One question was raised as to why the identity of donors is kept confidential. It was explained that as the donors come from all strata of the society, all faiths, it is considered best to keep the identity confidential. Another participant wanted to know if any payment is to be made to donors. It was explained that the donation is purely voluntary. Hence there is no question of any payment. The participants were very satisfied and thanked us profusely. The meeting ended with a pledge by all to donate eyes.
