Rotary Club of Pune Metro _ Project Manovedh We at RC Pune Metro have a strategy of deciding projects which can do long term lasting impact on chosen beneficiaries, with intense activity. In that context, recently RC PUNE METRO has launched one more unique project. We have been listening to a lot of news about anxiety, depression and suicides in youth. The reasons are many, fierce competition, lack of friends to share thoughts and anxieties, impact of social media, rising demands of youth (that's again a result of the speed of the changing world).... The challenge becomes more difficult when you are facing new city, new friends, new culture, new courses...food.. language dictions, the gap between the economies .....the list is endless. So, RC Pune Metro in association with Baya Karve Stree Abhyas ani Sanshodhan Kendra , under Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha have planned set of 8 lectures (with lots of interactions) for these students, in small groups, on how to manage your mind in various situations. Each lecture/interactive session is for 90-120 Minutes. Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti has 4 hostels (2 for boys and 2 for girls) in Pune for rural lower income group students. The beneficiaries are the students from this organization. To make better impact, we chose beneficiaries which were fresh admissions, coming in to Pune City for further education at a tender and difficult age of 16 to 18. Most are overwhelmed by this huge step in their life that involves hostel life, big city like Pune plus impressionable age. Project Designing / Planning (from a crude idea to the beginning of course), spread over 2 months, itself was an interesting, enriching project. We held an Introductory session on 24th September. It was so good that students gave rapt attention the whole time and actively participated in interactions. The project continued with 8 detailed and interactive sessions, with regular feedback/ assignment mechanism over 4 months in all 4 hostels and now coming to an end. We are also training Hostel Management / staff in early identification of cases, dealing with cases with empathy etc etc.. Over 34 interactive sessions of 90-110 minutes each over 4 months were conducted. It was a great success with Many Rotarians attending sessions not just to understand beneficiaries but also learn new things. Also Beneficiaries have told us the positive impact of training in their life, their interactions with others, their attitude of looking at all situation.
