RCPL is known in 22-23 for innovative and unique projects. One such, only one of its kind within RID 3131 is a pain management camp conducted on 7 Jan 2023. Chronic pain of any type (Knee, Shoulder, Neck) that can’t be managed by conservative methods is a burden to individuals and community. Physical and emotional toll of chronic pain is immense, affecting a person's mobility, sleep, mood, and overall functionality which leads to his incapacity to earn his livelihood and stress in family. Dr Varsha Kurhade is an expert in Pune who treats chronic pain with latest technology of nerve bloc procedure. This camp was conducted at at Bidgar Hospital Rahata for underprivileged patients in which she checked 90 patients with chronic pain. She further shortlisted 15 who can be effectively treated with nerve bloc, specially patients who are in a debilitating condition. Procedures were done for intrinsic nerve bloc, which help manage chronic pain by targeting specific nerves or nerve groups responsible for transmitting pain signals, effectively blocking pain signals to give relief. This involves injection of local anaesthetics or steroids near affected nerves, effectively blocking pain signals and providing relief. Total 10 procedures were done, 4 on spine, 4 on knee and 2 on shoulder. This will lead to significant pain reduction, improve mobility, enhance quality of life, personal well being of individual and in turn economy. This innovative and impact creating initiative by RCPL holds importance over common projects. We have given new possibility for them to start earning. Novelty is the key issue as this can reduce the burden on government, families and hence on economy, by addressing a crucial gap in healthcare services for underprivileged individuals grappling with chronic pain.
