1) Health care allocation by the government is very low. India spends only 1.6% of GDP on health care versus 18.0% of GDP in the US. 2) Only 40% of all ophthalmic treatment and surgeries are done in government clinics. Most are done by NGOs (charitable trusts) or private hospitals (expensive). 3) With the extended lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic, there is an even greater need for thousands of pending/delayed eyecare treatment and surgeries to be done. 4) SAGK (Trust Hospital) will be able to provide quality eye care diagnosis, treatment and surgeries at less than one third the cost at private hospitals, with government clinics already overloaded. Ophthalmic surgical microscope provides the eye surgeon with a stereoscopic, high quality magnified and illuminated detailed image on a micro level for quality eye surgeries of all types. The latest Phaco Emulsification System is required for top quality cataract surgeries in less time with faster recovery and excellent visual outcome for the patients. Currently the lack of the latest eyecare operating equipment and tools does not allow the hospital to perform affordable quality ophthalmic surgeries.
