After the Landslide at village Irsalwadi near Karjat, the villages adjacent and below village Irsalwadi were getting contaminated drinking water from borewell and wells which was used as drinking and domestic purpose. we visited village Nadal with 450+ population to understand the problems and issues being faced by villagers after the landslide. They had acute shortage of clean drinking water. Gram panchayat had asked them not to use water for drinking purpose as it is contaminated and were asked to purchase water for drinking purpose which was unaffordable to them. We took up the problem with Our member who owns and runs water filtration and packaged drinking water distribution agency. As a noble gesture he assured and committed to provide them drinking water Free of cost till the problem gets resolved. Total 1000 Ltrs per day water was given to villagers for 10 months costing approximately Rs. 300000.00. The villagers were very happy to see the response from Rotary and thanked Rotary Club of Patalganga for taking care of the villagers. We assured them that we will try to take up the issues with Grampanchayat and try to resolve the problem. We contacted Grampanchayat and requested them to resolve the problem ASAP. The impact of the project was that the grampanchayat resolved the problem by providing MIDC water for drinking.
