Rotary 3131 - Project Details

05-08-2023 - 07-06-2024

More than 7 schools were reached by the Rotary club of Pen for giving awareness of environment and plastic management. Students of all schools were given a task of making eco bricks with proper guidance. They were educated about the environment, need to keep the environment clean. They were educated how plastic management will help even disaster management. Garbage if handled properly will prevent and control diseases from spreading. Community can progress only if all work in hand to hand. The students were asked to take help of their mother to make eco bricks. It will be an ongoing synergy project which will help waste management in area of Pen and surrounding areas. An eco brick packages all non-recyclable or compostable waste into a single-use plastic/ PET bottle, leaving as little air and space as possible. It is often talked about as a unique solution that helps address pollution and single-use plastic PET bottles. Eco bricks are part of a solution that enables people to not only clean up their rivers and coastlines, but these once-wasted materials can be used to build things of direct benefit to local communities Eco bricks help reduce plastic waste by using it as a building material instead of sending it to landfills or polluting the environment. This helps to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in oceans and other natural environments, which can be harmful to wildlife and ecosystems Ecobrick production is simple and non-technical – it simply requires stuffing a 1 litre, 2-Litre PET plastic bottle with plastic waste until no more can be forced into it. Density is important so for a construction project of this scale, each ecobrick has to be carefully checked for compliance. The benefits of the project will continue through several key mechanisms. Firstly, the community will have gained valuable skills and knowledge in creating and using eco-bricks, enabling them to sustain and expand this practice independently. Educational efforts will ensure lasting awareness and responsible plastic waste management habits among residents. Local infrastructure improvements made with eco-bricks will serve as enduring examples of sustainable building practices. Additionally, schools and community groups will be inspired to adopt and replicate the initiative, further extending its impact. The project will foster a culture of environmental stewardship, encouraging ongoing community engagement in similar sustainability efforts. By reducing plastic waste, the project will lead to a cleaner, healthier environment, improving the quality of life for all residents. The sense of accomplishment and community pride will drive continued participation in eco-friendly initiatives, ensuring the project's long-term benefits and legacy.
