Mahadan is a Signature Project of Rotary Club of Pune Heritage. This is 9th consecutive year since the inception of this project. The form of execution has been changed for better results. Initially, the scope of the project was limited to the club venue, but over the years, the club members started planning this activity by visiting various societies. This project now spans over a month. This project aims at collecting funds, clothes, food grains etc. from external donors in the community donating the collected clothes and goods to various old age homes and NGOs. The donations received in the form of money are used for the projects in focus areas of Rotary International. This year had 'Adhik Mahina'. This month is considered to be auspicious for donating goods in memory of our forefathers. So Mahadan project was executed in that period. Another big advantage is that a high level of PI is attained through this signature project. The club reaches almost 2000-3000 people across several societies in various localities and our work is displayed in the form of banners and slideshows. People know about Rotary and the work done in various focus areas of Rotary. This project is planned in detail. It starts with assigning a project leader. The planning starts a month and a half before the actual start date of the project. The societies are contacted and Mahadan is planned normally on Weekends. Banners are printed and through various modes of social media, we reach the neighborhood of the planned societies. A leader and the team are identified for each venue. Rotarians and Anns of our club participate in the actual execution. This year we visited 22 societies.
