Adult education is very dynamic and primarily aimed at bringing in social, economic, political and cultural transformation of the adult, their society and nation. Beyond its importance as part of the right to education, literacy improves lives by expanding capabilities which in turn reduces poverty, increases participation in the labour market and has positive effects on health and sustainable development. Adult education helps individuals understand their fundamental rights and also take corrective measures against crimes like domestic violence and child marriage. RC Patalganga has initiated the “Adult Literacy Program” at Adiwasi wadi. The project started today at Shivnagar. 7 Adiwasi ladies from Shivnagar has shown interest in Adult education and attended the class. We will continue this project with help of our members and HOCL school teachers at various wadis and ensure that these ladies are at least educated to read and write basic Marathi and write their own names.
