RCPD has funded a Recharge of 10 Handpump borewells (BW) in the Shirur district ( Vadu budruk, Pimple Jagtap & Jategaon budruk )at Rs. 20,000/- per borewell (total Rs. 2 lacs) impacting 1000 beneficiaries. The first BW recharge was implemented on 22nd June and it is expected that recharge of all 10 BWs will be completed by Jun 25th.. The patented Bore Charger technology of Urdhvam Environmental Technologies Pvt. Ltd. , Pune for Recharge & Abstraction borewells involves: *Carrying out surveys of water deficient areas to identify borewells which dry up after 4-5 months of the monsoon. These surveys are based on reports / maps of CGWB District report, Geological Survey of India, Bhuvan Satellite, Google Earth images, Zilla Parishad, Pune. *Angiography of the borewell: taking a video of the borewell shaft, after removal of the handpump, so as to determine underground rock formation/ fissures as well as actual measurement of length and condition of the borewell. *Angioplasty : cutting slits of 2-3 inches length and 2-3 mm width in the entire 25-30 ft length of the casing pipe. This enables water to percolate through rock cavities and fissures into the borewell shaft thereby increasing the water storage and availability in the borewell from 4-5 months to at least 9-10 months after each monsoon. Urdhvam has won many awards from Ministry of Urban Development, Maharashtra State Innovation Society, FICCI, Columbia Global Centre, etc as well as Rotary Water Award 2020 from one the Pune clubs.
