The Rotary Club of Nanded City partnered with RCI Pune Pride on a cataract surgery project that began on July, 2023 with the combined efforts of members of Rotary Club of Pune Nanded City. The majority of patients came from Khanapur village, Pune district. Mr. Nandkumar Javalkar, a resident of Khanapur, played a crucial role in coordinating with the villagers. Dr. Suvarna Farande, the medical director, and Prasad Jog along with the support of members of Rotary Club of Pune Nanded City spearheaded this project with a goal of performing at least 100 surgeries. A total of 46 cataract surgeries had been performed at Poona Eye Care till date and still ongoing, a hospital owned by Dr. Nitin Kolte. Dr. Akanksha and Dr. Archana were also part of the surgical team and this is ongoing and will surely meet the benchmark soon.
