To commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by the great Indian scientist Dr. C.V. Raman, National Science Day is celebrated annually on February 28. Rotary Club of Sunrise Panvel and Janeev Samajik Seva sanstha, Panvel in collaboration with the Annasaheb Sahastrabuddhe Tribal Ashram School, Wakdi, organized Science Day celebration on February 28, 2024 . Selected 8th and 9th-grade students were invited to present projects on the efficient use of water, electricity, and fuel resources at the school and hostel. With guidance from teachers and members of Rotary club of Panvel sunrise and Janeev samajik Seva Sanstha, Panvel, 15 students prepared and presented their projects during the Science Day event. The presentations showcased creative and intelligent solutions to resource usage. On this occasion safety Officer at GIA Laboratory Pvt. Ltd., along with her colleagues, demonstrated fire safety practices, engaging students in practical exercises. The students conducted detailed studies on water and electricity usage at the school. Students concluded that repairing or replacing leaking taps in the school and hostel premises could save approximately 20,000 liters of water per month. Additionally, using modern electrical appliances could save about 200 units of electricity monthly. Despite being from a rural tribal school, their enthusiasm and initiative were commendable.
