Rotary Club of Poona West and The Suburban Rotary Club of Omaha , US (International Sponsor), along with Solar Village Project (Org 1) and Think Sharp Foundation (Org 2) are in partnership with Solar Village Project (SVP) and Thinksharp Foundation (TF) to conduct a project designed to provide solar power to rural, energy impoverished schools in the state of Maharashtra, India. SVP, together with TF and the RC Poona West , will screen 60 to 100 rural schools in Maharashtrato to identify those that are in need of electrification. Based on the outcome of that needs assessment program, 40 schools that will benefit most from access to reliable and sustainable electricity will be selected for the installation of solar power systems; we propose to fund the electrification of 19 of the 40 selected schools.
