Rotary 3131 - Project Details

14-08-2024 - 14-08-2024

RCPC has been approached by IGW India Technologies Pvt. Limited Dhanore Pune for a CSR driven project. This will be our 6th project with the company. The Project: IGW has suggested construction of two classrooms for Charholi Village Government School. This school near IGW plant serves 350 students, up to 7th grade, with students mostly from poor and tribal families. The current building is made of AC sheets and in a very poor condition. Therefore, a visit was planned on 14th Aug along with enthusiastic Rotarians: Pres. PKM Raja, Rakesh Makhija, Shireesh Nadkar, Dr. Ramesh Sachdeva, and Arvind Saraf. We visited IGW Plant 5. Their team, led by Vikas Dudeja MD, CFO & HR team introduced the company, their vision, plans and management Practices. In turn, we introduced RCPC, our long association, and the reasons why we should continue working together for the company’s social initiatives. The Visit to Charholi Village Government School along with the IGW HR team: We were warmly welcomed by the school headmaster & teachers. Local gram panchayat leaders with a government official were present too. The project was discussed in great detail, along with a direction aimed at the way forward. The headmistress gave a small talk on how they have achieved good results (merit scholarships for few students) in spite of several challenges. We visited the classroom, and the condition can be at best described as pathetic – crammed rooms, inadequate benches, low ventilation & lighting. However, the children demonstrated high spirits in greeting us, and answering questions from the teacher in a loud chorus. In one classroom, the children were sitting on the floor, but still smiling with bright eyes. For a Rotarian, these heart-tugging moments are a push towards an ‘act of service’. The Tipping point for any Rotarian. Personally, for me, the bright eyes filled with hope; the children sitting on the floor and looking up – that was the Rotary moment for me.
