Rotary Club of Pune Horizon in collaboration with Gyanee is organising aptitude test for students from the 5th to 10th grades. This will help identify the aptitude of each child and help in formation of career choices from an early age. Aptitude test confirmation: 1. Span International Academy on 2nd Sept 2. New Grace School 4th Sept Savitribai Phule Pune University’s, Department of Psychology is developing a scientifically validated Aptitude Test aimed at students in 5th to 10th grade, under the guidance of Dr. B.R. Shejwal. This test is designed to offer a thorough understanding of students' Cognitive Abilities, Interests, and Personality Traits, which can help in making informed decisions about their future career paths. The assessment will evaluate several key areas: ? Language Ability will evaluate their proficiency in language including their vocabulary, grammar, verbal reasoning skills. ? Numerical Ability will evaluate their mathematical skills; their ability to perform arithmetic, understanding of mathematical concepts and formulas. ? Logical Reasoning will evaluate their capacity for logical thinking as well as problem solving ability. ? Spatial Reasoning will evaluate their ability to visualize and manipulate objects in space. ? Interest Assessment: This section will determine students' areas of interest, helping to identify their preferences and inclinations towards various fields or activities. ? Personality Traits: The test also includes an evaluation of students' personality traits to provide insight into their behavioral tendencies, attitudes, and how these might align with potential career paths. While excelling in the above mentioned abilities is important, it alone is not sufficient for making career decisions. It is equally crucial to take into consideration a student’s Interest Areas and evaluate their Personality Traits, so as to make a well- rounded decision. Therefore, this Aptitude test also includes assessments of Interest and Personality. Each component of the test has been developed with consideration of the students' age and the standard they are studying in; referring SSC and NCERT textbooks relevant to the concerned standard. Each test will take 20 -25 minutes to complete. The primary purpose of these assessments is to collect data that will help in making the test scientifically valid and accurate. To achieve this, we need to administer the tests to 50 randomly selected students from each standard, from each school. This project is funded by Gynee Skill Development Pvt. Ltd., under their CSR activity. Once the Aptitude test is fully developed, the company will offer the school the test results and later a Downloadable Software Version of the test free of charge, which will also provide the comprehensive results of the students, so that the school can use the test in the future at their convenience.
