**Title: Rotary Club of Baramati Hosts Thalassemia Awareness Program at SVPM College of Engineering** On **14th September 2024**, the **Rotary Club of Baramati**, in collaboration with the **Thalassemia Society Pune Chapter (TSPC)**, organized a **Thalassemia Awareness Program** at **Shivnagar Vidya Prasarak Mandal College of Engineering, Malegaon Bk.** The event was led by **Dr. Nita Munshi**, President of the Thalassemia Society Pune Chapter, and aimed to educate students about the risks and detection of thalassemia. The awareness session, held from 10 AM to 1 PM, saw an active participation of around 150 students, many of whom underwent free thalassemia detection tests. The event was supported by key members of the **Rotary Club of Baramati**, including **Rtn. Shobha Nahar**, Director of Maternal and Child Health, **Rtn. Zimra Israel**, Co-Director, and **Rtn. Darshana Gujar**, Zonal Chair for Maternal and Child Health. Their leadership and coordination ensured that the students were well informed about the genetic disorder and the importance of early detection. The event also focused on the availability of free lab tests, encouraging students to take advantage of the opportunity. The program was attended by the college principal and other dignitaries, alongside Rotary Club members such as **Rtn. Arvind Gargate**, President for 2024-25, **Rtn. Ravikiran Khartode**, Secretary, and **Rtn. Abhijeet Barge**, Director of Service Projects (Medical). The collaboration between the Rotary Club and **SVPM College of Engineering** made the event a successful step toward increasing awareness of thalassemia in the local community.
