VOCATIONAL AWARDS CEREMONY Reported by President Supriya Banerjea Our club had arranged a function on 04 February,2016 at Poona Club to felicitate people from various fields for their vocational achievements. These people are basically from humble backgrounds who have defied odds to achieve success. Three candidates were chosen, one handicapped girl,Miss Rekha Zine ,a budding entrepreneur, Mr. Pawan Kulkarni and a budding sports person, Miss Manasi Parvatkar. Miss Rekha Zine is a Polio affected girl with 70% disability. She manages to walk with a pair of crutches. She completed her Higher Secondary. Now she is working as a Data Entry Operator for the Marketing and Sales Division of Gits Food Products Pvt. Ltd. Co. Simultaneously she is studying for FY B.Com. She is also pursuing classical dance. Mr. Pawan Kulkarni , a boy from a poor family in Beed district, started his job with a salary of Rs.2500 and now he owns a company with an annual turnover of Rs.4 crores.He manufactures canopy and signage for petrol pumps, Highway safety and so on. Miss Manasi Parvatkar is a std.10 student of Rewachand Bhojwani School. She has won several laurels at the District and National levels for athletics and Roller Skating. She won medals at the National level for 100 mt. sprints and Hurdles. Our Rotarians , PP Ranveer Rathore, PP Balkrishna Karwa and PP Ashwini Malhotra sponsored the awards for these three candidates. PP Ranveer Rathore sponsored Miss Rekha Zine for the VOCATIONAL EXCELLENCE AWARD FOR THE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PERSON WITH EXCEPTIONAL DRIVE. She received a cheque of Rs.11,000, a silver medallion and a certificate. PP Balkrishna Karwa sponsored Mr. Pawan Kulkarni for the VOCATIONAL EXCELLENCE AWARD FOR THE BUDDING ENTERPRENEUR 2015-16 He received a cheque of Rs.11,000, a silver medallion and a certificate. PP Ashwini Malhotra sponsored Miss Manasi Parvatkar for the SPORTS EXCELLENCE AWARD FOR THE BUDDING SPORTS PERSON. She received a cheque of Rs.11,000, a silver medallion and a certificate. This is a very special project of Rotary Downtown which brings the club closer to the community by encouraging the achievers for further achievements. Almost all the members of the club were present to cheer the recipients. It was a very satisfying project.
