“Heads held high and a personality brimming with confidence” is what the Rotary Club of Poona Airport can foresee for the underprivileged with their brainchild “SOCH”. SOCH has been conceived to deal with the challenges the lower strata of society faces, the biggest of them being illiteracy. With the help of professionals from various fields this section of people will be provided with a six month module educating them about the basic disciplines of life for a better tomorrow. We hope to give them a kick-start to understand everyday challenges and deal with them effectively. SOCH takes up the endeavor of educating an entire family. In fact they welcome them with open arms and the team at SOCH hopes to have students of various ages. The battle is won if the whole family unit inculcates the exercise provided to them. No bar on age, caste or creed. We assure that once at SOCH we will make the difference. SOCH will impart a comprehensive package on basic education including reading and writing, craft, personal/ family hygiene, oral hygiene as well as nutrition. Keeping in mind their short attention span all this will be taught through games and stories. The data carefully tabulated by professionals taking into consideration their environment, circumstances and mindset will be affectionately imparted by a local teacher well versed with the local language. To ensure that the format is being followed diligently she will be supervised by Rotarians and Anns. SOCH does not get complacent here. For every exercise to be effective one has to offer incentives and therefore every class will be followed by a nutritious yet attractive meal another good reason for them to attend class as well as gain something. SOCH also wants to award its students at the end of the first six month module by presenting them with certificates. This will inspire them to join module two wherein we hope to send interested students to various institutes to pursue courses of their choice for them to get independent financially in future. We hope that the spark we ignite will be carried forward. SOCH is sure that with conviction they will do wonders with this project. YOU can help in achieving this goal.
