In today's era, education plays an important role in moulding a child's life. Through education they can achieve their dreams and become an able person in their family. Some like us got chance to be educated while some are still deprived off being literate. Reason may be poor or neglecting parents or the environment they are brought up in. We can't blame the child ,what we can do is help them to take first step towards education. Taking this as an opportunity to do our first service project, we Rotary club of Pune synergy took a small step towards this noble cause. We distributed 12000 notebooks to 2000 underprivileged students studying in the corporation schools. This is a destined project for our club. We had been to corporation schools for some other project, but while interacting with the principals of the schools we visited, they all were keen on doing a project for the students of their schools as they had a poor background. Same was the feedback we got from one of our BOD meeting where we had decided to do a project for underprivileged children's. They suggested us to give note books to the students. Capitalizing on this thought we decided to distribute a set of 6 notebooks to 2000 students studying in 5 PMC schools. Corporation schools we distributed note books. 1) Dr Vasantdada Patil Maadyamik Vidyaniketan (Shukarwar path) no of students 420 2) Smt Savitribai Phule School (Bhavani path) no of students 250 3) Yashwantrao Chavan Madyamik Vidyalay ( Bibewadi) no of students 1050 4) Baburaoji Sanus Girls Madyamik Vidyalay (Mangalwar path) no of students 160 5) Subhedar Ramji Maloji Ambedkar vidhyalay ( Nagar Road) no of students 120 For each school team leaders were appointed . All the team leaders have done a fabulous job as all the events were done professionally and peacefully. It was an overwhelming response from our club members as they contributed and even got donation for this project and a total of Rs 2,51,840 was collected. As a project leader I would like to share my experience for this project. 1) Blissfull eyes - I have seen joy, happiness in the eyes of the students while receiving the books, which made me realize giving is beautifu and indeed made this project complete. 2) Bonding - In the process of this event lot of interaction happened with group leaders, individual donors , fellow Rotarians which gave me opportunity to know them and I can say now that we are rotary family. 3) Miracle happens - We were halfway through for funding this project a question a raised what about other half and we had already given the order for notebooks. I conveyed this concern to my fellow Rotarians and ultimately the amount of funds that were collected by us were more than we actually required. I have realized when the cause and intentions are good miracles happen.
